AFL-CIO v. DOGE - Data Access Challenge
AFL-CIO and various unions sued to halt DOGE access to Department of Labor, HHS, and CFPB systems. Judge Bates declined preliminary injunction for lack of irreparable harm but left door open for merits case, stating the court's 'concerns are as grave as ever' and 'by no means green-lights DOGE Affiliates' access to Americans' most sensitive information.'
USAID Employees v. Musk — Deposition Ordered
Judge Chuang rejected Elon Musk's apex doctrine defense and ordered Musk, Marocco, and Lewin all deposed under oath regarding DOGE's role in the USAID dismantlement. The ruling found Musk had unique personal knowledge of DOGE's decision-making process that could not be obtained through other witnesses.
